The Archive Entry No. 001 - Where Every Story Begins
Some stories begin with a business plan.
Ours began with conversations.
What started as a simple idea to create a few fragrances in a garage quickly became something much bigger. We realised we didn't just want to make perfume—we wanted to build a world around it. A fragrance house where every bottle had meaning, every collection told a story, and every scent became a chapter in something larger.
Finding the right name proved to be one of the hardest parts of the journey.
Over the course of weeks we filled pages of notebooks with ideas. Some were inspired by music, others by literature, tattoo art, late-night conversations and the atmosphere we wanted people to feel when they held one of our bottles for the first time.
Names came and went.
Some sounded too familiar.
Some felt too safe.
Some simply weren't us.
For a while, we believed we had found the perfect name in Echo & Ember. It captured the feeling we wanted, but as we began building the brand we discovered it wasn't a path we could confidently own. Rather than compromise, we treated it as another chapter in the story and carried on searching.
Eventually two words kept finding their way back onto the page.
Echo.
A reminder that moments don't truly disappear. Music fades, conversations end and nights come to a close, yet some things continue to resonate long afterwards.
And...
Sin.
Not as something dark for the sake of being dark, but as a symbol of rebellion, individuality and choosing your own path. A celebration of the people who have always felt most at home standing slightly outside the ordinary.
Together they became Echo & Sin.
A name that felt timeless.
Simple.
Memorable.
Ours.
From that moment everything else began to fall into place.
The Archive.
The Chapters.
The Volumes.
The artwork.
The garage workshop that would become the birthplace of our first collection.
Even before the first fragrance has been perfected, Echo & Sin has found its identity.
This journal exists to document every step that follows.
The successes.
The mistakes.
The late nights.
The formula revisions.
The packaging prototypes.
The excitement of discovering a blend that finally feels right.
Nothing here is polished.
Nothing here is rewritten.
These pages are the story exactly as it happened.
If you're reading this at the beginning, thank you for joining us.
If you're reading this years from now, welcome back to where it all started.
The first page has been written.
The story is only just beginning.
